During April, UK-focused equity funds saw record outflows. Investors pulled £836m from the category, just beating the previous record set in January this year.
Key highlights from this month's FFI:
- UK equities funds saw record outflows of £836m. Over the last seven years combined, no net new capital has flowed into UK-focused funds
- Two thirds of UK focused funds saw outflows
- UK Smaller-company and mid-cap funds bore disproportionate share of the outflows
- European, North American, technology and specialist regional funds also saw outflows
- Global fund inflows partially offset record selling in March and were dominated by ESG funds
- Inflows to fixed income funds were focused on low-risk categories – short-dated and inflation-linked bonds
